Jee (advanced): Three TN Students in Top 100 of JEE (Advanced) Exam | Chennai News

Chennai: Three students from the state got within top 100 ranks in JEE (Advanced) exam of which results were declared on Sunday.The top ranker, Aryaman Prasad from Chennai Public School in Anna Nagar, has scored 315 of 360 marks and secured 42nd all India rank. Last year, the top ranker in the state had secured all India 27th rank and five students from the state featured in the top 100. JEE (Advanced) results were declared on Sunday by IIT Madras, the organising institute for the entrance exam which serves as the final gateway for prestigious IITs.Of 1.8 lakh candidates who took the JEE (Adv) exam, 48,248 qualified. Of them, 7,964 are girls. This year, 455 more girls have qualified compared to last year.Aryaman Prasad is planning to join computer science engineering in IIT Bombay.“I developed a passion for computer science after seeing the use of machines in everyday life. Writing many tests and assignments for each chapter for the past two years helped me score well. Due to my preparation, I was able to take the exam with ease,” he said. His father, Apurva Prasad, works in a merchant shipping company and mother, Punita Prasad, is a homemaker.N Shriram from Suguna PIP School in Coimbatore scored 313 and secured all India 48th rank. He is also planning to join computer science engineering at IIT Bombay. “I was aiming within top 50 ranks in JEE (Advanced) and expected around 315 marks,” Shriram said. His parents are doctors.Ishir Gupta from Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School in Chetpet got 304 and secured all India 84th rank.“I am planning to study computer science either in IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi. JEE (Advanced) exam was on the easier side compared to the past few years,” he said. He also enjoys reading novels and listening to music.Scores have increased compared to previous years due to easy question papers.“In the absence of difficult or ambiguous questions in physics and maths sections, scores have jumped by seven percent among top 500 ranks this year. Even for ambiguous questions in chemistry, a flexible answer key was given,” said B Pavan Kumar, deputy director, FIITJEE, Chennai.Santosh Singh, academic head of Allen Career Institute in Chennai, said there will be a huge demand for computer science engineering in IITs like in the past few years.
